The Main Index

The Main Index screen shows a list of categories and the boards within those categories.

 

The key areas of the screen are (from top to bottom):

 

The Forum Menu

The Forum Menu allows you to select main areas of the forum:

If you are an unregistered user or you have not yet logged in then the menu will consist of the following items:

  • Main Index - Displays the Main Index screen.

  • Search - Allows you to search the boards.
  • New User - Allows you to register as a new user.
  • Login - Allows existing members to log in.
  • Who's Online - Allows you to see who is logged in to the forum.
  • FAQ - Displays the Forum FAQ.

If you have logged in then the menu consists of the following items:

  • Main Index - Displays the Main Index screen

  • Search - Allows you to search the boards.
  • Edit Profile - Allows you to change your settings and profile.
  • Send Private - Allows you to send a private message.
  • Check Private - Allows you to check for and read any private messages.
  • Who's Online - Allows you to see who is logged in to the forum.
  • FAQ - Displays the Forum FAQ.
  • Logout - Allows you to log out of the forum.

User Information

On the left hand side of the screen the number of registered users is displayed.

The right hand side of the screen varies depending whether or not you are logged in.  If you are not logged in then a simple message tells you this but if you are logged in then you are told how many Private Messages you have.

Categories & Boards

The discussion forums are split into a number of boards and the boards are grouped by categories.

Category names are shown in a large typeface and a list of boards within that category are listed below it.

Clicking a board name will take you into the board itself.  Below each board name is a brief description of the purpose of the board to give you an idea of what sort of messages should be posted on the board.

For each board, towards the middle of the screen, a count of the number of messages posted on that board is displayed and on the right hand side of the screen you will see when the last message was posted.
